The late-night talk shows

The late-night talk shows

When we think of talk shows, the immidiate word that pops into our minds is television. However, we have to bare in mind, that historically the first "tech-entertainment" platform was radio. And from the radio all the great ideas migrated to our screens.

The first late-night ts that aired on CBS in 1948 was The Ed Sullivan Show and it set the bar VERY high right from the very beginning. It literally incorporated all forms of art that you can think of: opera, singers, song writers, balet dancers, comedians... and even circus acts!

Nowadays, the late-night talk shows changed slightly. It is the advertising that is the most important to the producers and the networks. The whole cultural aspect is not omitted, however it certainly is not what it used to. Usually the show revolves around comedy sketches and monologues, an interview with a guest followed by a performance of music artists. Moreover there are many extras which are later on posted on social media.
